PURPOSE OF ASSIGNMENT
The purpose of this assignment is to enable you to:
 Articulate a thorough understanding of the basic principles and practices of measurement.
 Demonstrate the use of the Standard Method of Measurement as used in the Australian construction industry.
 Measure quantities to prepare tenders for common types of low and medium rise construction.
 Apply information technology in measurement.

ASSIGNMENT TASK

You are required to prepare a Bill of Quantities (BQ) for the ‘Riddell Parade Apartments’ project for the following items:
 Groundworks items
 In-situ concrete work up to top of the Basement 2 floor slab
 Formwork for in-situ concrete up to top of the Basement 2 floor slab

Please note that you do not have to measure bored piers, retaining walls and staircases. Your BQ must be prepared in accordance with the requirements of the Australian and New Zealand Method of Measurement of Building Works (ANZSMM). Refer drawings of this project for more information.

FORMAT OF ASSIGNMENT
The assignment should be presented as a neat, tidy and professional PDF document. Please include the followings in the report:
 A title/cover page
 Introduction
 Unpriced BQ: The BQ must be completed using a suitable software package (iTWO costX)
 References
 Appendices: Query Sheet, all relevant annotated drawings/ marked-up drawings and screenshots of computer-based measurements or any calculations must be included in your submission

ASSIGNMENT SUBMISSION
 Students MUST submit the completed report into the designated Assignment Dropbox on the unit site.
 Submission is required on or before Friday, 9 December 2022 by 8.00pm through the unit site (The due date and times are to be read as in accordance with Australian Eastern Daylight Time only).
