Assessment Task 1: Emerging industry sector analysis

Goal: The purpose of this task is for you to analyse and interpret data to assess the challenges and opportunities facing an emerging sector of the food industry (e.g. plant-based foods, alternative proteins, “free-from” foods, functional foods, etc.).

  branded product within the emerging food sector and make recommendations for improving
  the supply chain.  
Product: Written PowerPoint (10 – 15 slides) plus info-graphic.
Format: This is an individual assessment – PowerPoint presentation and infographic equivalent to

Goal: The purpose of this task is for you to develop a food marketing strategy for one branded
  product in the emerging food sector driven by a coherent knowledge of consumer decision
  making.
Product: Written report.

Criteria •   identification and profiling of key market segments
  • application of knowledge of consumer decision making for the product category
  • development of a marketing strategy for the branded product (positioning, product, branding and price) for one key market segment including
  • strategies to interrupt routine behaviour at the point of sale
